Reshveen is one of our current group of youth athletes who made his international weightlifting debut this year in the 1st Youth Weightlifting World Championship. Still relatively “young” in the sport, he aspires to one day win a medal for Singapore.

1. What is your age?
17 years old
2. How and when did you get interested in Olympic Weighlifting?
I got into olympic weightlifting slightly more than a year ago. The immensely strong guys I saw on tv were just amazing. Since then I always wanted to be one of them.
3. How long have you been pursuing the sport?
I have only been SERIOUSLY pursuing it for about 8 months now.
4. Who/What motivates you?
My coach, Ang Hwee. His passion for the sport and his unending support never fails to motivate me.

5. What are your goals in the sport? What do you hope to achieve?
It is not about individual pride for me. I want to do well for my country, so i hope that in the near future i can win a medal for my COUNTRY!
6. What is your personal motto?
TO BE THE BEST YOU GOT TO TRAIN TO BEAT THE BEST!
7. What are your best lifts?
70kg in the snatch 100kg in clean & jerk.
8. What is your favourite food?
Nothing in particular. I just love food!!
9. What are your interests and favourite past time?
My interests lay in lifting. I aspire to get stronger and bigger every day. So, my favourite past time is undoubetly lifting!
10. What 5 words or less best describes you?
Mugger. Fighter. Never say cannot!
11. What are your competition experiences (if applicable)?
My experience at the YWWC was just amazing. To see so many youths from all over the world around my age with the same passion and drive really motivated me. Training alongside them in the training hall did make me feel a tiny bit inferior but it was truly a wonderful experience. I got to make many friends from around the world! AND I SAW REZAZADEH!
