Due to our participation and organisation of the Weightlifting Competition for the YOG2010, we will be closing our JBK training centre from 10th to 20th Aug 2010.

Just over 2 weeks to go before Singapore hosts the 1st Youth Olympic Games.
Weightlifting, one of the core Olympic sports, will feature as 1 of the 26 sports in the programme. It will see about 110 boys and girls competing across 11 weight categories from 15th to 19th Aug 2010. Singapore will be represented by Joel Law (62kg, Boys) and Jamie Emma Wee (58kg, Girls).

Supporting the YOG is the Sports Initiation Programme (SIP). Its objectives are to create and facilitate an understanding of the different Olympic sports. We will be organising the Weightlifting SIP at the competition venue on 15th and 16th Aug 2010. This weekend will see 28 athletes representing 6 countries – Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Canada – competing across 6 different weight categories.
Venue: Toa Payoh Sports Hall (between the Stadium and Swimming Complex)
Final preparations are underway as look forward to the Singapore Open on 22nd and 23rd May 2010 at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall (Admission is free). We’re expecting teams and officials from various neighbouring countries to arrive from the 19th.
We also have the NTO Workshop on the 20th for those looking to get involved in the sport as an official.

SWF will be organising a NTO Workshop on 20th May 2010 (Wednesday) and invite those interested in volunteering for the sport, especially during the Singapore Open (22nd and 23rd May 2010) and Singapore Youth Olympic Games 2010 (15th to 19th Aug 2010).

SWF will be organising the Singapore Open on 22nd and 23rd May 2010 at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall. This is also the venue for the weightlifting competition during YOG.
The event is open to the public and all are welcomed to watch as our athletes pit themselves against other athletes from Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia and Indonesia. The event programme starts at 10am and ends at about 6pm each day.
In support of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games 2010, the National Library Building and its network of Public Libraries are showcasing the various sports that will feature in the Games, providing the general public an opportunity to learn more about the respective sports.
SWF is proud to have Jurong West Library showcasing our sport.
SWF invites all youths to consider taking up the sport of Weightlifting. As a core Olympic sport, it features in major multi-sport games such as the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and SEA Games. The sport also has various World and regional Championships for different age groups of athletes.
