Lift Up Singapore! Live a dream!

Singapore Weightlifting Athlete, John Cheah, 26, personal trainer and coach at Crossfit Tanjong Pagar, wishes to be able to train full-time and attend overseas training camp to prepare for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia from the 4th to 15th April 2018.

To win in the Weightlifting competition requires the athlete’s

  • single minded focus on training
  • disciplines to drive beyond the pains and fatigue
  • never give up attitude and
  • in the most defining moments overcome the fear of losing and get back up in pursuing the dream and winning the medal. Like the story of our former Silver Olympic Medal winner, Mr. Tan Howe Liang.

Q1 2018 Introduction to Weightlifting Workshops

SWF will be organising an Introduction to Weightlifting Workshop on 27th January, 24th February and 24th March 2018 from 9.30am to 11.30am. The workshop will be approximately 2hrs long and will be at our training centre. This workshop is also strongly recommended for candidates keen to register for our Weightlifting Coach NCAP Technical Level 1 certification.

Registrations is available through the store and the workshop requires a minimum of 4 participants to commence. Maximum intake is 15 pax. Registration is S$45 per participant and is to be made via our online store by the closing date.

All successful registrants will be contacted prior to the Workshop. Participants under the age of 18 will be required to complete a consent form by his/her parent or guardian.

The workshop will be held at the SWF Training Centre – 54, 56 & 58 Jalan Benaan Kapal, Singapore 399643

Athlete Assessment Session – 25th November 2017

SWF will be organising our Athlete Assessment Session on 25th November 2017, starting from 1.00pm sharp. The venue will be our Training Centre at 58 Jalan Benaan Kapal.

Programme for the day:

* Weighing in and grouping for the Assessment Session (please report by 12.00pm)

* Athletes Assessment Session

Our Assessment Sessions is open to: a) athletes who are keen on being selected for overseas competitions (necessary for performance evaluation) and/or b) enthusiasts of the sport (to enrich your experience and help you define your benchmarks).

All athletes participating must have valid memberships (payments should be made prior to the Session), non-members may pay a day entry rate to participate in the evaluation.

If you are keen to find out more about the sport, this would also be an ideal occasion to visit to get a general feel and observe how the sport is practiced as competition protocols (timing, refereeing, athlete sequencing) are simulated during these sessions.

Singapore’s Tan Lay Sang at World Masters Games in Auckland, New Zealand

Singapore’s Tan Lay Sang will be competing at the World Masters Games in Auckland, New Zealand, on the 25th April in the W50-54 69kg category. The scheduled time 2.30pm local time (GMT +12).

All sessions are being live streamed here. The site also includes a large number of high resolution photos from each session.
